  • August 20th: Texas House passes Trump redistricting plan, setting up showdown with California.

    The Texas House pushed through a map that erases five Democratic districts, effectively kneecapping Black and Hispanic representation in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and South Texas. The vote sets the stage for two battles, one in the courts, and one between Texas and California. And both will shape who controls Congress in 2026. David Binder, a prominent Democratic pollster who has long worked for Governor Newsom, found that 57% of California voters backed the state’s redistricting measure, while 35% opposed and 8% were undecided.

  • Labor Day March, Monday, Sept 1, 2025 Workers Over Billionaires: Nationwide protests are set for September 1, 2025, turning Labor Day into a day of action. Labor unions, grassroots organizers, and advocacy groups are calling out what they describe as a billionaire-driven “authoritarian, anti-worker agenda” under #DonaldTrump, with a focus on defending Social Security, healthcare, and workers’ rights. Meet at the Westcliffe Bluff Park, 30 Main St. (across from Cliff Lanes Bowling Alley), 10 a.m. Will walk up to Altitude Fitness and back.
