NO KINGS MARCH
Opening remarks by
Deb Adams
Good morning, friends, neighbors and fellow Americans. We are here today because the promise of our republic is under threat. The idea that this nation is governed by "We the People" is not a slogan—it is the very foundation of our republic. And it is a foundation we must defend with all our power. We are here today because we care about the future of our country.
We are all united by a love for this country and a belief in its democratic ideals. We are not anti-American; we are pro-democracy. The “Hate America” rally already happened on January 6th, 2021. Let us raise our voices to defend the rule of law, protect our democratic institutions, and push back against chaos and corruption by the current administration.
For generations, the American people have risen to defend our democracy. We have fought against injustice, pushed back against corruption, and protected our rights. This is our moment to continue that legacy.
For nearly 250 years, this country has stood as a testament to the idea that power belongs to the people, not to a monarch or a dictator. We are here to reclaim that promise. We are here to remember that our leaders are public servants, not rulers, and that they answer to "We the People.”
By standing together, we prove that our democracy is stronger than any single person who seeks to erode it. We are here to send a message to the Trump regime and all who would seek to undermine our freedoms: There are no kings in America. The rule of law, not the whims of any single person, is the supreme authority in this land.
This is the time to show up, to speak out, and to fight for the dignity and opportunity that every American deserves. Let's march forward, together, and prove that in America, the people—not kings—are in charge. The power of the people is greater than the people in power. We the people are citizens, not subjects, of the United States of America. Let freedom ring!"
It takes a village, and Westcliffe showed up! Westcliffe ROCKS!
