Hmmm. No school board election, but there is a current opening.

September 2, 2025 the Board cancelled the election because no one ran against the current board.

October 7, 2025, Jennifer Kreigh, Secretary and Treasurer, resigned for personal reasons.

October 7, 2025, Board announces a vacancy, nominates and approves new Board member, John Tillotson as Secretary/Treasurer and agrees to hire a secretary to take minutes, etc. Thus, leaving the vacant Board opening for an at-large Director. Anyone interested must apply by November 19, 2025 so that the Board can decide on the new at-large Director. Notice of appointment to Board of Education

Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statutes § 22-31-129 (2), the Custer County School District C-1 Board of Education must declare a vacancy in the school director office and appoint a person to fill the vacancy within sixty days after the vacancy occurs. In accordance with state law, the Board declared a vacancy at a Regular Board Meeting on October 7, 2025, due to a resignation of one at-large director seat on the District’s Board of Education. Beginning October 7, 2025, any person who meets the qualifications and who desires to be considered for the appointment is invited to submit a letter of interest, including a biographical statement, to the president of the Board of Education, Reggie Foster, at the Custer County School District’s Administration Building, 709 Main Street, Westcliffe, Colorado 81252. Upon submission of the letter of interest, applicants will be asked to fill out a sworn affidavit attesting to the qualifications for office. All documentation must be submitted by noon on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. To be eligible for appointment, an applicant must reside in Custer County School District and must have been a registered elector of the Custer County School District for at least twelve consecutive months prior to the date of appointment. The applicant must be 18 years or older and have never been convicted of a sexual offense against a minor. The Board will interview prospective candidates on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, during a public session of a Special Meeting of the Board at 4:30 p.m., in the library. The Board of Education plans to appoint the person to fill this vacancy at its Special Board Meeting.
